Visual marking is of triple value:

a) It acts as a deterrent to theft.  Unmarked tack is a thief's best friend!  

b) It devalues the items if someone does try to sell it on. A prospective buyer can see that the item is ID marked and will (hopefully) check it out. 

c) If the item is stolen and you have notified Immobilise, the visual marking alone should be enough to get your stolen tack returned if the police or others discover it!

Our visible coding is easy to read and simple for the police to check from their patrol vehicle.  Just as important.............. our coding retains it's integrity if the owner moves or sells the tack.

So why do I need a microchip?

Visual marking could perhaps be defaced in such a way as to be unreadable. 

A microchip provides indisputable proof of identity and ownership. Without the chip your saddle or harness could be lost and the thief could get away with it!

The microchip is inexpensive and has a projected life of 50 - 100 years.  The Chips4Tack microchip contains no lead solder so is environmentally friendly. Also it has only 6 component parts - less possible failure points means better reliability!

The chip carries a special 15 digit ID code number registered to YOU!

How the Chips4Tack system works in practise?

With the active input of a specially chosen Master Saddler, Chips4Tack are training a number of microchip saddle fitters (Chip-Fitters).  A network of these Chip-Fitters will cover the UK and Ireland, many of them already working with horses. They will be most keen to help you get your saddles and tack items indisputably ID marked - and ready for you to register on Immobilise, the police's preferred national database.

Registration is easy! Just go online, to the web address we will give you and follow the simple instructions on the Immobilise  website. Register yourself and your tagged items (you can also add non tack items) in your own, personal property database registered account.  The price of the chip INCLUDES a 'life of the product' registration. 

There is no re-registration fee with Chips4Tack! 

If you sell the registered tack. Simply pass on the chip registration details to the new owner.   Leaving the details on your account will NOT hinder the recovery of a saddle as the registration on immobilise is recorded in real-time so a new entry will add history to the record not invalidate it!  

If your tack does get stolen then immediately notify the database through your account. Go to the item and click on Stolen or Found! 

Your registered property is flagged up on the database system as being stolen and if a police officer then raises a saddlery query all the stolen saddlery registered on the datebase is listed on his patrol vehicle computer. Your tack will be identified by the unique ID codes in or on the saddle.  If your tack is discovered in, for example, the back of a van in Cornwall or Scotland, the police will be able to identify YOU as the owner simply by contacting their own database from their patrol vehicle at the roadside!
